Church Jobs

6 10 2010

The general consensus in the world is, i’m guessing, is that working for a church is about the most fun, entertaining place to work at. Actually, for the most part, it really is. But the church actually is an extremely different place to work than any other place.

There is one thing I want to focus on this topic, and that would be interacting with other people. The way you interact is crucial to the overall success of what you do in church. If your interaction is good, things will most likely end up good. I’m not saying that is the only thing, I mean, God is a very big deal there (actually, the biggest), but it does have an effect on it. So how does interaction go along with this?

The way you treat people and talk to people means everything in the world. Now, just any old job has basically the same philosophy. You don’t have to get along with everyone, and if you don’t get along with someone, who cares? The church world is incredibly different. It’s all about relationships.

Now why is this all about relationships? Because number one, the Bible says this in Proverbs 27:17:

As iron sharpens iron,
so one man sharpens another.

This verse is basically saying that people learn from each other. What does this have to do with relationships? Well, if you don’t have a relationship with someone, if you don’t know anything about them, if you don’t take the time to get to know them then the chances are you aren’t going to learn anything from them or possibly get along with them. The other day my boss was told a story about how someone didn’t get along with someone very well. Then, the person found something that the other liked, and they connected really well through that and formed a great relationship.

Things like that are what make things at church successful. And hey, not everything in this post has to be about working for a church. This also has a whole lot to do with life in general.
